Chelydra Labs is an independent engineering firm founded on the belief that great hardware deserves great software — and vice versa.
We operate at the intersection of electrical engineering, computer science, and mechanical design. Our work spans from bare-metal firmware on custom PCBs to high-level autonomy stacks running on distributed systems.
Approach
We start every engagement with first-principles analysis. Rather than reaching for off-the-shelf solutions, we evaluate the problem domain, constraints, and trade-offs before choosing a path. This rigor carries through schematic design, PCB layout, firmware architecture, and system integration.
Areas of Focus
- Embedded Linux & RTOS — Yocto, Buildroot, Zephyr, FreeRTOS
- Microcontroller Firmware — STM32, ESP32, nRF5x, AVR
- Sensor Integration — IMUs, LiDAR, cameras, environmental sensors
- Motor Control — BLDC, stepper, servo — FOC and trapezoidal
- Communications — CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, BLE, WiFi, LoRa
- PCB Design — Altium, KiCad — high-speed digital and analog
- Software Infrastructure — Rust, C, C++, Python, Go
The Team
We are a lean operation — currently two principals with backgrounds in aerospace robotics, consumer electronics, and industrial automation. We believe small teams with deep expertise produce the best work.
